Dynamic Reporting
Define your own custom reports without costly custom programming.

Dynamic Reporting is a custom report generator that lets you define your own OMS, WMS, and PMA (Admin System) reports on an array of data elements organized by topic.

General

What are Dynamic Reports?

Dynamic reports are custom reports that you can create yourself in the Order Management, Warehouse Management, and PMA (Admin) systems.

Why would I use Dynamic Reporting when there are already VeraCore reports available?

If you have a VeraCore report you love, you should keep using it!

But if the report doesn't generate to Excel, has more columns than you want to include or is missing some information you'd like to see, is inconvenient to generate on demand, or needs to export automatically to a file directory or an email distribution list, it might be worth checking out dynamic reporting to see if a replacement is possible.

Dynamic reports:
  • Reduce turnaround time for getting custom reports
  • Eliminate custom reporting costs
  • Improve security by only including the information you want to report
  • Save time when they're scheduled to generate automatically, exporting data to a file folder or email distribution list
  • Better-manage operations by defining reports that provide precise, actionable data
  • Can use VeraCore's public API to query a lot of data in a single fast, efficient call

Are there instructions on creating and running Dynamic Reports?

Try these:

Access to Your Dynamic Reports

Who can create dynamic reports?

Users with menu access to the Define Dynamic Reports or Dynamic Reporting Setup screen can create dynamic reports.

In the Warehouse Management System, these are users that belong to the WMS Full Access and WMS/Production menu access.
In the Order Management System, these are internal users with either 2016 Administrator, Production Administrator, or Basic OMS Admin menu access.

Can Pre-Registered Users Access Dynamic Reports?

Only users with access to VeraCore's Modern user experience can get to Dynamic Reports. So users of an OMS Additional View or Shopping Cart View DO NOT have access to create or generate Dynamic Reports. See How can I get a dynamic report to a user that can't access Generate Dynamic Reports, below.

Can I give users access to run dynamic reports but not create or edit them?

Yes! We offer two menus for dynamic reporting. The Dynamic Reporting Setup or Define Dynamic Reports screen lets you create and generate dynamic reports. The Generate Dynamic Reports screen lets users run reports but doesn't let them create or edit them.

Simply restrict menu access to the Dynamic Reporting Setup (or Define Dynamic Reports) menu (see Who can create a dynamic report?, above.)

How can I get a dynamic report to a user that can't access Generate Dynamic Reports
(return to top)

Use the Export Scheduler tool to schedule the report to generate automatically, sending the output to the user's email address or a file directory they can access.

Can I create a dynamic report in one client account and use it in other client accounts?

Yes! When you save and publish a new dynamic report, you can choose whether to make the report available to all systems of that type (OMS, WMS, or PMA) or make it available to only selected systems.

We run our VeraCore in the cloud. Will our dynamic reports be seen by other VeraCore companies?

No. Dynamic Reports created by and for your company will only be available to your company's systems.

Creating Dynamic Reports

Do I have to be a programmer to create a dynamic report?

Not at all! You don't have to be a programmer or even particularly tech savvy to create a dynamic report in VeraCore.

The Dynamic Reporting Setup and Define Dynamic Reports screen offers a simple user interface that lets you drag and drop columns, format data with drop down list options, and make selections with check boxes.

There are several VeraCore distributed reports you can copy and edit to help you get started. When you need to create a new report from scratch, every report type (starter template) comes pre-loaded with relevant columns and data filters you can use.

Report Content

What kinds of information can I report on?

Different system types provide different types of information. Here is a list of report categories by system. Please note that there are usually several report types (starter templates) available for each category below.

We're adding categories and reports all the time, so be sure to check your VeraCore system for the most current options.

Generating Dynamic Reports

Who can generate dynamic reports?

When a new report is created, you can make it available to specific User Types and Systems.

So, any user who has menu access to the Generate Dynamic Reports menu.

Note:For OMSs (client accounts) only users in the Default View can create/generate dynamic reports.
Pre-Registered Users do not have access.

How do you generate a dynamic report once you've created it?

Generate dynamic reports manually in the User Interface by navigating to the Generate Dynamic Reports menu or the Dynamic Reporting Setup (or Define Dynamic Reports) menu and clicking the play button on a report's line to generate it.

Or use the Export Scheduler to schedule the report to export to a file or email distribution list automatically so you don't have to.

Finally, use VeraCore's public API to generate report data outside of VeraCore's user interface.

Exporting the Report Data

Can the report data be exported out of VeraCore?

Yes! You can export the report on demand in the Generate Dynamic Reports screen or schedule it to export automatically to a file directory or an email distribution list.

What file formats are available in the export?

Reports generated in Generate Dynamic Reports are exported as .xlsx (Excel) files.

When you schedule dynamic reports to generate automatically, you can choose the file type to export. Choose from .xlsx, .csv (comma delimited), .csv (quote comma delimited), and .txt (tab delimited)

Where does VeraCore send the exported file?

When you download the report after running it manually in Generate Dynamic Reports, it exports to your local Downloads folder.

When you use Export Scheduler to export the file to a directory, you'll be prompted to create a sub-directory under the VeraCore GOMI directory as part of the schedule definition. FTP access to the file folder may need to be established for you and your clients to pick up the report. See Using FileVista to Upload Files for instructions on logging into FileVista to pick up your file in GOMI.

Can I schedule the report to export automatically to an email distribution list?

Yes! Use the Export Scheduler tool to set up a schedule and email distribution list.

Can I schedule the report to export automatically and export to a file folder?

Yes! Use the Export Scheduler tool to setup a schedule and point to a directory.
